Coverage is not the same as verificationAll printed candidates are included, but some biographies, current platforms and action records remain incomplete. Campaigns and questionnaires describe what candidates say; they do not independently prove achievements or policy effects.
Why we use these voter guides
- VOTE411: reviewed current race questionnaires and used candidate responses where available. Direct race links appear below.
Why this source: Candidate questionnaires let us compare responses to the same questions and link directly to what candidates say. Responses are self-reported, not independent verification.
- Ballotpedia · Wayne County elections: reviewed in the browser and cross-checked county executive, Third Circuit and probate candidate listings. The page also includes offices outside this sample precinct.
Why this source: Organized election and office information helps cross-check candidate lists and understand race context. We still check the relevant official ballot.
- BallotReady · Michigan
Why this source: Its address-based guide helps readers find their ballot. Reviewed as a directory, not used as evidence for candidate biographies or positions.
Excluded as outdated: the VOTE411 House District 24 page retrieved listed Leonard C. Scott rather than Allison Kay Fuller. Its candidate information was not used for this election.
Records, reporting and claim checks
Reviewed October 14, 2026. The articles below inform the linked guides. Resources still awaiting record verification are labeled separately.
Useful for checking biographies, votes, speeches and interest-group ratings. We use underlying records, not Civic Sage AI summaries. Any rating must name the advocacy group, date and score; it is not a neutral assessment or a candidate's stated position.
Status: Candidate records could not be retrieved for this update. No new candidate claims are attributed to Vote Smart.
Useful for campaign-finance research. Before publishing figures, verify the election cycle, reporting date and original FEC or state filing, and distinguish campaign receipts from outside spending. An employer-linked total may include employees or affiliated PACs; it does not necessarily mean the company donated. Donations alone do not prove a candidate's priorities or motives.
Status: Records could not be retrieved for this update; no donor totals added. Check Michigan coverage before comparing state candidates. Its transparency advocacy is separate from the underlying records.
Michigan explanatory and accountability reporting adds context beyond campaign materials. Label it as reporting and keep guest opinion separate. Used here: questions to the governor candidates about schools and literacy, summarized on the governor page.
Specialist education reporting helps explain school issues. Used here: Michigan education issues to watch in 2026 for context on the State Board of Education page. This is not evidence of an individual candidate's position, and Detroit district races are not Canton school-board races.
Use their evidence and full context to examine specific claims, not just a rating. They check selected statements: an unchecked claim is not automatically true.
