Research is incomplete

Some positions and most action records still need verification. A missing entry says nothing about a candidate’s merits. These summaries do not assess feasibility, costs, or likely results.

Check the context behind campaign claims

Background clarification: PolitiFact reports that Abdul El-Sayed earned a medical degree and a public-health doctorate, but did not complete a residency and has not held a medical license in Michigan or New York. A medical degree and a license to treat patients are different credentials. Read PolitiFact's October 8 debate analysis, covering claims by both candidates.

Past versus current proposals: FactCheck.org documents El-Sayed's 2020 support for shifting some policing funds to community services, alongside his 2026 statements supporting law-enforcement recruitment, retention and retirement funding. It also explains why a 2018 sentence-commutation proposal should not be presented as his current Senate platform. Read the October 8 ad analysis and supporting evidence.

These are selected claim checks, not a comprehensive assessment of either candidate. The absence of a check does not establish that a claim is true.
